Oberweier

Oberweier has about 1,400 residents and has belonged to Ettlingen since 1974. It lies at 140 m above sea level.

Oberweier first appears as ‘Babinwilare’ in 1115, in a deed of donation to Reichenbach Abbey. Oberweier was originally a tiny satellite community at the outskirts of Ettlingenweier, and in 1307 it was joined with Ettlingenweier and Bruchhausen as part of the Stab Weier administrative unit (see Bruchhausen).
