Fool's Fountain

Sandsteinbrunnentrog in der Mitte eine Brunnensäule mit zwei Wasserspeier, oben auf der Säule ein die Figur eines Narren.

This fountain originally stood on Marktstraße in front of the Gasthaus zum Sternen. In those days it was called “Star Fountain”. The Fool’s Fountain was carved by Friedrich Hagenauer and depicts “Hansel von Singen”, the court jester of Margrave Ernst. The year 1549 is carved into the pillar. On the top of the column stands the fool with his attributes, the jester’s cap and scepter, which is supposed to remind passers-by of the transience of all earthly things
