Over 40% of the land within our city limits is made up of forest. The State Garden Show brought an exemplary green concept to completion in Ettlingen in 1988, which linked the green areas within the city proper to the outskirts of the town. The idea of the “green ring”, visible in Horbach park and in the smaller, individual green areas within the city, allowed Ettlingen to develop new gardens and much green in the city centre despite the density of its mediaeval town structure.
Horback Park is a pleasant attraction for people from the whole region, and not only on the weekends. The romantic little stream, the lake, the fountains, playgrounds, and orchards appeal to people of all ages.
