Set up a temporary stopping ban

You can apply for a stopping ban for the duration of your move. This allows you to load and unload easily in front of your old and new home.

You may not reserve parking spaces on public roads without prior authorisation (e.g. by placing rubbish bins).

Other road users do not have to respect unauthorised reservations.

Note: Applies to the area in front of the planned loading and unloading zoneoif an absolute ban on stopping applies to the area in front of the plannedito be allowed to park there. In areas with anhowever, you may load and unload in areas with a restricted stopping ban if this is done without delay.

Procedure

You can apply for a stop ban in person or informally in writing to the competent authority.

Your application should contain the following information:

  • First name and surname
  • new and old address
  • Telephone number
  • Purpose of the stop ban (carrying out a move)
  • Date on which the stop ban is to be implemented
  • Period during which the ban is to apply
  • Area in which the no-stopping zone is to be set up
    Provide as precise details as possible (e.g. street and house number) and attach a sketch if necessary.
  • Length of the stopping ban (this is usually based on the length of the removal vehicle)

Appropriate signage is required for the short-term establishment of a stopping ban. This can only be carried out by the responsible road construction authority (building yard or road maintenance depot) or a suitably authorised specialist company (e.g. removal company). The specialist company must provide proof of the necessary expertise on request.

The no stopping signs must be put up at least 72 hours (three days) before the removal date.

Miscellaneous

If vehicles are parked in the no-stopping zone on the day of the parade and obstruct the parade despite the signs being up, you can have the vehicles towed away. The towing costs must be borne by the vehicle owners.
