Federal Foundation "Mother and Child" - Apply for benefits
Are you pregnant and in financial difficulties? The Federal Foundation "Mother and Child - Protection of Unborn Life" offers individual financial support to make it easier for you to continue your pregnancy. The benefits can only be applied for via one of the 123 pregnancy counselling centres in the state.
Depending on your monthly income, you will receive benefits from the federal foundation for
- Expenses related to the pregnancy and birth (for example maternity clothes, initial equipment for the child, nursery furnishings),
- Deposit and removal costs if you have to move due to the birth,
- Support for living expenses if you have to resume training that you interrupted due to the birth of the child
Please note: Financial support from the Federal Foundation is a voluntary benefit. You have no legal entitlement to it.

Details
Prerequisite
- You are in a financial emergency and have no means of support of your own and no other means of support or the existing means are not sufficient (e.g. social assistance).
- You do not exceed a certain income limit.
- You are permanently resident in Baden-Württemberg.
If you live in another federal state, you must apply for benefits from the competent authorities there. - You can prove your pregnancy with a medical certificate.
- You must seek advice from a recognised pregnancy conflict counselling centre in a personal consultation.
These counselling sessions are free of charge.
Note: Statutory entitlements (e.g. citizen's allowance, social assistance, initial equipment for pregnancy and birth according to §§ 21, 23 SGB II or §31 SGB XII) take precedence over foundation benefits. You must therefore first exhaust existing statutory benefits and self-help options.
Procedure
You must go to a pregnancy counselling centre in person. The staff
- provide you with comprehensive advice on all questions relating to pregnancy and birth,
- inform you about social and economic assistance for pregnant women,
- support you in asserting other claims,
- check whether you fulfil the requirements listed above ,
- complete the application form together with you and confirm that the information provided is correct,
- forward the application with the necessary documents to the Baden-Württemberg Municipal Association for Youth and Social Affairs, which will make the final decision on the application.
You will receive a notification of the decision from L-Bank.
Deadlines
You must apply for the benefits before the birth of the child.
